June 6th - Canada

We pulled out of Blueberry Pond Campground at 7: 30 a.m. in a light rain. It rained about half the drive through the rest of Maine. Most of the day we were on Highway 9 which is really hilly and a desolate part of the state. People who live around there must have to drive 50 to 100 miles to do any grocery shopping. There were scattered houses, very few businesses, but almost no towns that we saw.

We crossed the Canadian border at Calais into New Brunswick. Going through customs was the easiest we had ever experienced. After tuning over our passports all he asked was how much liquor we had, if we had any guns or marijuana, why we were coming in, how long we were staying, and what our relationships were. Less than five minutes and we were on our way. Here is a picture of the sign as we entered Canada.

Upon setting up at the campground it was obvious that it has been raining a lot around here. Everything is muddy and the mosquitoes and small flies are relentless. We sprayed ourselves with two different repellents while setting up the RV but neither seemed to have much of a deterrent effect. Not a good sign of days to come. After getting the RV set up we headed to the grocery store for a few items and to find an outside door mat to help keep some of the mud out of the rig. This place needs some major sunshine to dry things up. There are puddles standing everywhere. The grass squishes as you walk across it. For supper Kelly warmed up some chicken wings we brought along which were left over from the "Wing Ding" in Florida. They were great. Kellen and I then walked up and did the laundry. Many of the parks we will be at in the coming days will not have laundry facilities so we took advantage of the laundry here.  When we got back to the RV we realized that we had gained another hour. Instead of 7:30 p.m. it was 8:30 p.m. It won't be long and we'll hit the sack. Kellen is happy that they have wi-fi here and he can play games with friends on his Xbox. It's kinda cool because we can watch Hulu TV on it as well when we have a wi-fi connection. We are staying here two nights.

I spotted another issue with the camper as we were setting up. I'll take a picture of it tomorrow and post it hopefully along with a repair.  Tomorrow we will drive to Hopewell Rocks and have Kellen experience walking on the ocean floor and the twenty foot change in tides every six hours. Kelly and I have been there twice and it is something to watch take place.
