Here are a couple of pictures from the boat ride but they really do not really capture the grandeur of this place. You have to see it.
Here is a picture with the fiords in front of us as we walked down the dock.
After walking the 3.5 miles back to the truck we drove to Rocky Harbor to get some needed groceries at the largest grocery store within 100 miles. It has two isles of groceries at outrageous prices. The rest of the store was clothing, paint, etc. We bought an eight pack of beer, a twelve pack of soda, a bottle of ketchup, a loaf of bread, a carton of orange juice, a half gallon of milk, and a shaker of pepper. The bill was $57.00 Canadian, or $43.00 U.S. I truly do not know how these people get what they need. There was no fresh meat and virtually no fresh vegetables. You can see the clothes hanging in the second isle to give you an idea of how small the grocery selection is.
They do have a Slushy machine though. I wouldn't think that would be a big seller in this climate but a teenager in line in front of us got one. Of course the teenagers were in short-shorts and short sleeves and we were bundled with coats on.
Tomorrow we are off to Twillingate where we hope to see some icebergs and maybe go out on a whale watching boat.
